Thorask for Windows

Thorask provides a unique software platform for assisting health professionals, hospitals, and managed care providers in optimizing the triage, diagnosis, and management of chest pain. The program is currently undergoing clinical trials in a major teaching institution.

Thorask is a straightforward, easy-to-use program, requiring only the input of carefully obtained clinical information. The program includes a module to help distinguish the three principal categories of chest pain from each other. It does what a true medical expert system should do without the need for complicated user input. The provider answers basic questions about the patient's history and directed physical findings, a 5 minute process, and the program immediately displays a list of diagnoses. The diagnoses are presented in decreasing order of likelihood, together with their estimated probabilities.

The program also provides concise descriptions of relevant clinical conditions and their presentations as well as brief suggestions for diagnostic approaches. For purposes of record-keeping, documentation, and data analysis, there are options for saving and printing cases. The screen capture below gives you an impression of the program.
